Next week, join us for the first DemoCamp of the season. On Tuesday, September 18, our longest running community event returns to the University of Alberta campus with a line-up of technical demos followed by a Q & A. Don't miss out on presentations from some of our Student Summer Program teams!
September is one of my favourite months at Startup Edmonton because so many of our Student Members return to campus. We launched a brand-new home for students to explore the startup community at StudentStartupLife.com.
See you soon!
Join us for the ninth annual edition of Launch Party Edmonton, the city's flagship startup event that celebrates and showcases the hottest startups in town.
Launch Party gives you the opportunity to meet our city's brightest entrepreneurs, try their products, and celebrate everything that our startup community has to offer. Launch Party is a flagship event of Edmonton Startup Week and showcases the hottest startups in town. Since 2010, more than 70 technology companies have launched products at the event, including rapidly growing teams like ZEPT, Jobber, Drivewyze, Poppy Barley, and Showbie.
Launch Party isn't your typical networking event or trade show. It's a party designed to celebrate and showcase the rockstar entrepreneurs in our community. Drinks, DJs, and great company all await you at Launch Party!
New for 2018, we have two types of tickets to welcome even more people to the party:
Doors open at 5:45 PM. Main Stage Programs at 7:00 PM & 9:00 PM.
Our flagship program, Preflight has launched some of Edmonton's most successful startup and scaling technology companies. Over the course of three workshop series, we'll coach you to refine and prove your market, create a product and company roadmap, prepare to pitch to investors, and sell to customers.
What kind of company do you want to build?
If you want to reach a global market, harness your ambition, and structure your business to grow right from the start, Preflight is for you.

One of our most in-demand workshops! Join Stephanie Enders, Manager - Startup Edmonton, for a session dedicated to social media strategies for founders and startups. A strong social media plan can help you promote your product, better understand your customer, and foster a community of supporters. Learn how to set goals, select platforms and create an authentic online voice. Leave with templates for timelines and shared workloads!
STARTUP 101: Expand Brand Awareness With Great Swag | November 14 @ Noon
The land of tech startups is littered with lousy company t-shirts! Don't fall into this trap with your limited marketing dollars. In this session, Stephanie will share when promotional swag makes the most sense for your marketing campaign objectives and how to make smart selections your audiences will love. You'll leave with a plan to create an army of brand ambassadors by helping your most loyal fans spread the word about your company and product.
STARTUP 101: How To Get The Most Out Of Mentorship | December 12 @ Noon
All of us need guidance and advice throughout our careers, and this is especially true when launching into the exciting adventure of entrepreneurship. Not all mentor relationships are created equal! In this 101 session, Tiffany Linke-Boyko shares insights into four critical areas related to mentorship: choosing a mentor, building a relationship, preparation, and implementing (or ignoring) advice. Join us for a 90-minute session on how to make mentorship a productive part of your personal and company growth plans.
Edmonton Startup Week returns October 15 - 19, 2018! Our first round of events are up on the website, and we encourage you to start building your schedule as some events will sell out quickly. Create your login and get started!
Five days of workshops, socials, and events building momentum and opportunity around our city's unique entrepreneurial identity, startup community & culture of innovation! Join in the celebration led by entrepreneurs and hosted in the startup spaces you love.
Interested in hosting an event? Fill out our quick form, and we'll be happy to work with you to create an amazing event for the entire community.
DemoCamp is our most enduring community event for a good reason - it's a chance to see inside the process of building a tech product or project from some of our city's brightest minds. Each team gets 7 min to present - all demo and no slides allowed.
Don't miss out on drinks afterwards to connect with hiring companies, make connections with passionate community members, and meet the Startup Edmonton team!
We have room for your growing team at our home in the historic Mercer Warehouse! Currently, office spaces are sold-out, but we have room for teams up to six members in our Dedicated Workspace.
So much more than an affordable place to work, co-working is a great way to keep motivated to reach your goals, find a network of peers, and access resources like mentors and special offers from trusted partners.
Meet Kelley and Adam, our newest Startup Edmonton team members!
Kelley Ware - Concierge
Kelley has a deep love for community-building, innovation, and cool ideas. As Concierge, Kelley is the first point of contact for anyone coming to Startup Edmonton.
Known for her love of colour and her friendly and vibrant personality, Kelley works diligently to make sure the Startup Edmonton space is running smoothly, and all of its members are looked after. People are her passion, and she enjoys helping connect founders, entrepreneurs, and talented people to where they need to go to turn their ideas into realities.
In her spare time, Kelley dances out of Bedouin Beats as a contemporary fusion bellydancer. If she isn’t working or dancing, chances are you can catch her somewhere in Edmonton with a pint of craft beer.
Adam Danyleyko - Community Program Manager
Adam is very excited to start with Startup Edmonton and to work on continuing to build and develop the excellent student programming, outreach, and engagement that Startup Edmonton does. He comes to Startup Edmonton from the Government of Alberta where he had worked for the last 4.5 years.
His previous role was with the Alberta Public Service Commission where he ran a cross-government internship program and course program, both of which focused on policy development. Adam is a graduate of the University of Alberta School of Business and has his degree in HR Management.
He loves drinking beer, spending time in the mountains, and discussing Game of Thrones theories.
Back-to-school season means we get to connect with an entirely new class of post-secondary students. We're on campuses all semester long, and we can't wait to help even more of our city's bright young students find their place in the startup community.
Our FREE Student Membership is available to all post-secondary students across programs, institutions and year-of-study. You'll receive a complimentary workshop of your choice, invitations to lots of exclusive events, and opportunities to meet the founders and teams of rapidly growing startup and scaling companies.
We would really appreciate it if you would pass along our Student Membership information to the students in your life!
Are you an instructor or school administrator? We would love to speak at your class or give a tour of Startup Edmonton. Email Adam@startupedmonton.com with your request!
