NABI (Northern Alberta Business Incubator Society) is pleased to announce its recent hire of Noreen Hoskins, who will lead the organization as the Executive Director.
"I am so excited to work with NABI’s Board, staff, clients and partners to lead a dynamic and vibrant organization,” effuses Hoskins. “As we move forward, it is important to build on what we offer entrepreneurs in Northern Alberta,” she continues. “We may have to reimagine the way we do things to create more opportunities and accelerate our pace of change.”
Hoskins joins NABI bringing more than 15 years of direct experience in training and development including Entrepreneur Development at TEC Edmonton. Most recently, Hoskins worked as the Director of eHUB the University of Alberta’s entrepreneurship centre. There she created eHUB’s BadgesTM program – a roadmap for interdisciplinary co-founding teams to transform their ideas into projects, initiatives and ventures.
“Noreen was essential in building the collaborative culture and interdisciplinary community that is eHUB today” said Tony Briggs, an Executive Professor at the Alberta School of Business and co-founder of eHUB. “eHUB has become a vital center for entrepreneurial student clubs, high-growth entrepreneurs and mentors to learn about entrepreneurship and develop new networks. We wish her tremendous success and look forward to working with her to expand opportunities in our region.”
Hoskins’ success at eHUB provides insight into her leadership style: “I’m proud of my contribution to the vibrancy at eHUB. An important constituent of NABI’s future is my efforts to champion a culture of inspiration, engaging and energizing those in our sphere of influence.”
Hoskins knows what it’s like to be in the shoes of NABI’s clients: She has 20-plus years of experience founding, running and investing in a number of businesses in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba.
“When we interviewed Noreen, it was clear that her rich experience in the provincial incubation ecosystem and her unparalleled leadership skills will help lead NABI into the future of supporting and growing new and small businesses,” says Anshuman Khare, Chair of NABI’s Board of Directors.
Dar Schwanbeck, outgoing Managing Director, looks forward to passing the torch to Hoskins, “Noreen gets it when it comes to building entrepreneurial capacity. NABI has had a stake in building this capacity for close to 30 years and Noreen is the right person to continue to grow NABI. ”
