Alberta International Development Officer Speaker Series, Calgary Feb 7, 2018

The Alberta International Development Office (AIDO) invites you to learn about Local Content in International Business Development including an understanding of the purpose and relevance of local content and how local content can help your company meet sustainability and anti-corruption requirements. This speaker series will provide participants with an understanding of the opportunities and benefits of local content in international business development as well as strategies for risk mitigation and implementation of local content. Participants are invited to join the session in-person in Calgary. Note that we have limited space in our boardroom in Calgary so it will be on a first-come, first serve basis. Soft-Landing Program for Canadian AI and VR companies around SXSW 2018 Mar 9, 2018

Concierge Connections & Coaching with TechRanch, Austin, TX, USA

The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in Texas has planned a landing that includes prep sessions, insights on reaching prospects in Texas, facilitated networking, concierge connections and opportunities to keep your momentum going with post SXSW engagement opportunities. This collaboration is designed to provide meaningful connections that are relevant, memorable and good for business. Participation takes place on-the-ground in Austin and via scheduled teleconferences. This program does not include grants for travel or registration for SXSW 2018. However, Alberta companies interested in attending could explore the Alberta Export Support Fund. The program is accepting up to 10 participants with a focus on development or delivery of technologies in the AI/VR sectors. Criteria include: Must be a Canadian technology SME ; Product or service must be launched and market ready; Company must have existing revenues; Company must be open to develop new distribution & sales channels, connect with prospective OEM or content creation partners, or secure investment abroad; Must be open to review pitch and market position or explore new market segments; Must be in Austin and available to participate in a full day of programming on Friday, March 9. Alberta Trade Mission to Energy Storage Europe, Duesseldorf, Germany Mar 13-15, 2018

In cooperation with the Embassy of Canada to Germany and the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, the Government of Alberta invites you to participate in Energy Storage Europe 2018 from March 13-15, 2018 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Energy Storage Europe Expo and Conference is the leading event of its kind and focuses on all aspects of energy storage. The event featured 162 exhibitors and more than 4,300 visitors in 2017 and participation is expected to grow in 2018. The recent ratification of the Canada and European Union (EU) Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) creates opportunity for Alberta companies to do business with German and EU businesses, clients and partners. Wavefront Digital Content-IoT and Gaming Sector Mission to Middle East April 9-13, 2018

United Arab Emirates & Kuwait

The Middle East is on the verge of a massive digital disruption. The MEA region has a significant and growing population of online gamers - 587 million in 2017 - and is starting to have an impact on the region's share of gaming profit. To capitalize on this growth trend, Wavefront will work with the Trade Commissioner Service in the UAE and Kuwait to bring a small group of Digital Content and Mobile Gaming companies to the UAE and Kuwait to attend the Digital Games Conference in Dubai and participate in tailored B2B meetings with potential customers and partners from across the region. The program will include B2B matchmaking meetings and networking with local industry contacts, targeted 1:1 meetings, attending the conference.

Program requirements: Product or technology is in the IoT Space, min. 1 Mio$ in revenue, proven business model in Canada, some export experienced preferred.

Deadline to apply for the mission: February 7, 2018. Space is limited to 5-6 Canadian companies.

Alberta-Western Canada Trade Mission to IFAT 2018, Munich, Germany May 14-18, 2018

IFAT is the premier international meeting for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management. Canadian Digital Media Network SOFTLANDING PROGFRAM

Application for spring cohort open: Jan 29-Feb 11, 2018 The CDMN Soft Landing program offers qualified, mature startups and SMEs exposure to business opportunities outside of Canada. Companies can utilize this program to open new markets, close international sales, secure investment and connect with new partners abroad. Successful candidates will receive up to $4,000 Cdn in reimbursable expenses to help offset transportation and accommodation costs. Companies landing at a co-working space, accelerator or incubator may also have the costs associated with workspace covered for up to three months. Both the location and the specific landing facility are always determined by the company based on their business needs and market pull.

If you get funding, you can use the $4,000.00 for travel between March – June 2018


NUCLIS GRANT - Call for R&D Collaboration Catalonia –Canada

Catalonia’s UNILATERAL NUCLIS grant is now officially launched.

NUCLIS, the Call for Industrial Research and Experimental Development Funding in Catalonia, was launched today and the deadline is March 1st 2018. Nuclis grants are available for TRL3 to TRL7, and finance R&D projects to obtain prototypes and demonstrations of new products, processes, technologies. The aim is to promote R&D partnership projects between Catalan & Canadian firms and institutions. Project’s minimum budget: 150,000 euros. Direct and non-refundable grant of up to 200,000 euros. Grant intensity: up to 25-50%, depending on the company’s size and the nature of its activities. Nuclis grants are complementary to various Canadian grants and subsidies, including NRC-IRAP. Nuclis only funds the Catalan portion – Canadians can self-finance or use local programmes.
